A little french wine £2.99

Baron Saint Jean - Blanc
on the bottle: Vin de Pays Du Gers, a dry refreshing blend of Colombard, Ugni blanc and Savignon grapes.
in my mouth: Grassy note or is it a valley of vines. Good grape note but sharp.
Verdict: Not a wine for the Middle Smiths but maybe those living at Musmead Manor would like this small tipple. On Musmead Manor I have news of a great gathering this weekend, putting Mus and Memma on the firing line from Mally. I am sure the weather will hold off and all those happy middle earth friends will cope. The D of E crew from PHS are out expeditioning and being above ground will welcome the sunshine.

First Cape White £3.34

On the bottle: Nothing, just Cape White. Is it fruity?, dry, rubbush?

In my mouth: Fresh, fruity, hint of grape with a well balanced tingle on the top of the palate.

Verdict: (This is new) I have always said, you can not go wrong with the blended New World Wines (Australian, New Zealand and South African). This one does not disappoint. The Middle Smiths and the Under Dickens will enjoy this wine but only the Planner knows if it is available in Middle Earth or for that matter those under the world.

Article rejected

I sent a short story off to a magazine and it was rejected, my first rejection. They did say it needed a stronger theme but we live and learn. I am going to tackle it again and see if I can improve on the story line.

The Chronicle is coming on and should be ready to go to press by Sunday evening, just waiting on some articles from Aus and SA and then we will publish.

Stormhoek celebrate

The Storm -Chenin Blanc 2009 £3.34
on the bottle: be passionate, love, dream big, celebrate, change the world or go home.
in my mouth: Lively grape aroma, full of green intense grapes, fresh. Too easy to drink, a must buy if you can get it.

Hungary and its wine

Budavar – Chardonnay 2008 (£2.99)

On the bottle: An intense complex chardonnay with elegant fruit flavour, matched by a well balance oak character.

In my mouth: Fruity, citrus flavour, well rounded and soft on the palate. Good grape flavour lingering on the top of my palate.

Wine worth a taste

J P Chenet - Rouge
on the bottle - Soft with juicy fruit flavour.
in my mouth - Well rounded, fruity red wine. A little too easy to drink, well worth a buy.

Wines of Oz

Badgers Creek – Chardonnay

On the bottle: Dry with a clean refreshing taste and hints of honey and citrus.

In my mouth: grassy, slightly bitter after taste, lingers on the back of the palate. No grape but a clean fruity initial rush.

Wines worthy of a good glass

A few critics on wines I have recently drank.
Blossom Hill - Chenin Blanc - South Africa ( not from California) £4.28
-on the bottle: Bursting with melon and peach with a crisp citrus finish
-in my mouth: very slightly fruity, no peach, melon or citrus. A bland wine not worthy of the price.
